To ensure all machines are supplied with the appropriate materials to maintain continuous production (raw material, packaging, skids, etc). Also, to ensure that raw materials, supplies, and finished goods are moved to their designated places in the facility. Fast paced environment and requires quick critical thinking.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The principal duties and responsibilities of the Materials Handler consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Blend raw materials with color concentrates using the proper percentage calculation.
Supply raw material and packaging to machines to ensure continuous production.
Change intake from silo to silo, if applicable, document change, document lot numbers, and communicate to Team Lead, Process Technician, and QA Technician.
Check IQMS for inventory of materials and packaging.
Ensure grinders are properly cleaned, set up, and unloaded to prevent mixing of unlike materials (contamination).
Fill hoppers/loaders with appropriate material, clean any spills, and notify Process Technician if they are not loading properly.
Ensure that product is properly labeled before it is moved to the finished goods staging area.
Initiate action to prevent boxes/skids/gaylords from being labeled incorrectly.
Move finished goods from production to the staging area for shipping.
Ensure that optimum amount of regrind is being utilized.
Stack skids/pallets in designated areas. Clean up & dispose of any scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping.
Break down empty gaylords – store in designated area.
Take out trash that has accumulated during the shift.
Communicate any machine or auxiliary equipment malfunctions to the Process Technician.
Maintain and promote a safe and hazard free work environment. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines. This includes wearing personal protective equipment as required (ie: eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, gowns, hair nets, etc.)
Be capable of working overtime as required.
Routine daily maintenance of work area to ensure that it is neat, clean, and organized to the approval of your immediate supervisor.
Understand and participate in 6S activities as assigned by your supervisor.
Various other duties as assigned.
Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
SKILLS: Knowledge of materials, grinders, and material handling equipment.
Working knowledge of IQMS (obtained through extensive on-the-job training)
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
Must be capable of operating a forklift upon completion of training.
Lift truck certification or ability to acquire
PHYSICAL: Includes lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and use of hands and arms. Job requires heavy lifting (drums up to 200 lbs and cartons/bags up to 50 lbs.). Peripheral vision and depth perception required. Frequent use of pallet jacks requiring pulling & pushing of up to 1000 lbs.
MENTAL: Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Must be able to pass a drug screen.
